Turn PNG images into smaller JPG files. Convert one or many at once, pick the quality, and choose what colour fills any transparent areas.

Larger images are scaled down; smaller ones are left as they are.

What happens when you convert PNG to JPG

JPG has no transparency, so transparent parts of the PNG are filled with a solid colour. White is the default; you can pick any colour to match where the image will be used.

JPG is lossy: it discards detail the eye barely notices to make files much smaller. For photos saved as PNG, a JPG at 85–90% quality is often a fraction of the size with no visible difference.

When to convert PNG to JPG

  • A photo or screenshot of a photo saved as PNG is too large to email or upload.
  • A website, form or marketplace only accepts JPG.
  • You need product photos to load faster on your shop.

Tips for the best result

  • Keep logos, text-heavy graphics and anything with a transparent background as PNG: JPG blurs sharp edges and loses transparency.
  • Use 85–90% quality for photos; drop to 75% when file size matters more than fine detail.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, because JPG is lossy. At 85–90% quality the difference is hard to see in photos. Sharp graphics, text and line art show artefacts sooner, so keep those as PNG.

What happens to the transparent background?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default).

Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?

Simple graphics with flat colours compress better as PNG. JPG wins for photos and detailed images. If the JPG is bigger, keep the PNG.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser; the files never leave your device.
